When I started learning to play instruments and read music, I was very excited to find Australian history was rich with composers. So many pieces of good quality entertainment, composed by industry professionals. This site is a dedicated archive for Australian composed music, on which copyright has expired.
Australian society is inclusive and diverse; however, the best preserved composers had privileged access to publishers. The term 'ex-copyright' used here applies only to Australian legal jurisdiction. Australian credentials include persistent identification and residence. Australian composers are notable where

- had multiple editions of a work published
- used counterpoint effectively
- revival many years after publication
